Project Description

David Lloyd, Poole – Layher System Scaffold Public Access Staircase

High-Tek Scaffolding designed and erected a Layher system scaffold public access staircase at David Lloyd Poole. The staircase provided a safe and compliant pedestrian access solution for members and staff during a major padel court construction project. The Layher system offered a fast, engineered and visually clean solution suited to the busy leisure environment.

About the Project

David Lloyd Clubs is one of the UK’s leading health and racquets club operators. During the construction of new padel courts at their Poole club, a safe public access route was needed. Members and staff had to continue using the facility without disruption.

As a result, High-Tek Scaffolding designed and erected a bespoke Layher system scaffold staircase. The design met the requirements of both the construction programme and the client’s duty of care to the public.

Scope of Works

The project involved several key deliverables. First, the team designed and erected a Layher system scaffold public access staircase. Second, they installed handrails, non-slip treads and weather protection to ensure safe public use in all conditions.

In addition, the staircase was fully DDA compliant and suitable for use by all members of the public. The team coordinated the installation with the principal contractor to avoid disrupting the construction programme. They also modified and maintained the staircase as the construction phases progressed. Finally, the team ensured safe, compliant public access throughout the duration of the project.

Health and Safety

Operating within a busy, public-facing leisure facility required meticulous attention to health and safety. The team prepared full RAMS, which were submitted and approved before any works began. All operatives held current CISRS cards and relevant health and safety certifications.

Moreover, every operative completed a site-specific induction before accessing the David Lloyd site. Public exclusion zones were carefully managed to separate construction and leisure activities. The scaffold was inspected weekly and after adverse weather in accordance with BS EN 12811. Consequently, zero incidents were recorded and the project was delivered safely and to programme.

Our Service

High-Tek Scaffolding worked closely with the principal contractor and David Lloyd management throughout. The staircase was always available, safe and presentable. As a result, the Layher system allowed for rapid adaptation as the construction phases evolved.
