About the Project

This commercial scaffolding project at the RNLI Centre in Poole required a multi-level independent access scaffold around a new building development. The scaffold gave the main contractor and trades safe access to every level of the structure, from ground level up to the roofline. Because the works took place on the RNLI’s busy operational headquarters site, careful planning was essential to keep access clear and the surrounding area safe throughout.

Scope of Works

The project involved several key elements. First, the team erected a multi-level independent access scaffold to the full elevation of the new build. Second, they installed fully boarded working lifts and edge protection at every level for the construction and cladding trades. In addition, ladder access bays were provided for safe movement between lifts, and debris netting was fitted to contain materials and protect the surrounding area. Finally, the team carried out a safe, staged dismantle on completion of the works.

Health and Safety

Working on a live commercial site required careful attention to safety. The team prepared full RAMS before works began, and all operatives held current CISRS scaffolding qualifications. Furthermore, the scaffold was inspected weekly and documented in full compliance with BS EN 12811. Access routes and the surrounding area were kept safe at all times during erection and dismantle. Consequently, the project was completed safely and without incident.
