Project Description

Station Road, New Milton – Roof Raising Access Scaffolding

High-Tek Scaffolding erected a bespoke access scaffold at Station Road in New Milton. The project enabled the raising of the existing roof to the middle and rear sections of the building. As a result, new residential flats could be constructed above the existing structure. Because the site sat on a busy main road, the team managed pedestrian safety carefully and coordinated closely with the local authority.

About the Project

The Station Road project involved raising an existing roof structure to create space for new residential flats at roof level. The scaffold provided safe working access during the demolition of the existing roof and the erection of the new raised structure.

In addition, the prominent high street location created significant logistical challenges. Therefore, the team coordinated carefully with pedestrians, traffic and neighbouring businesses throughout the project.

Scope of Works

The project included several key elements. First, the team erected a full independent access scaffold to all elevations of the building. Second, they installed edge protection and safety netting to contain debris during roof demolition.

Furthermore, the team built loading bays and materials handling platforms to support the roofing contractor. They also installed a covered pedestrian walkway with protective fans along the high street frontage. The erection and dismantle phases were carefully planned to minimise disruption to the high street. Finally, the scaffold complied fully with the local authority’s requirements for works on the public highway.

Health and Safety

Managing a scaffold on a busy main road location required an exemplary approach to health and safety. The team prepared full RAMS, which were submitted and approved by all parties before works began. All operatives held current CISRS scaffolding qualifications.

Moreover, the team implemented a traffic management and pedestrian diversion scheme throughout the project. A covered walkway was maintained continuously along the high street frontage. The scaffold was inspected weekly and documented in full compliance with BS EN 12811. Consequently, all highway works were carried out under an approved Section 50/Traffic Management Act licence.
