Project Description
Braidley Road Underpass, Bournemouth – Scaffold Access for Community Mural
High-Tek Scaffolding proudly collaborated with BCP Council to deliver a bespoke scaffold access solution at Braidley Road Underpass in Bournemouth. As a result, the project enabled a talented team of artists to transform the underpass with a vibrant community mural. This rewarding work demonstrated that scaffolding plays a vital role not just in construction, but also in enriching the communities we serve.
About the Project
Braidley Road Underpass is a busy pedestrian route in Bournemouth town centre. In fact, thousands of residents and visitors use it daily. BCP Council commissioned a major public art installation to improve the environment and well-being of the local community.
As a result, High-Tek Scaffolding designed and erected a working access scaffold inside the underpass. The scaffold allowed artists to reach the full height and width of the underpass walls. Furthermore, it maintained safe pedestrian passage throughout the works.
Scope of Works
The project required a carefully planned approach to meet the unique demands of the site. First, the team designed and erected a bespoke access scaffold within the underpass. Second, they installed working platforms at multiple levels to allow the artists to reach all areas of the walls.
In addition, the team maintained a safe, segregated pedestrian walkway through the underpass at all times. They engineered the scaffold to work within the structural constraints of the underpass. The erection and dismantling were carried out to the project programme requirements. Finally, all works were coordinated closely with BCP Council’s project management team.
Health and Safety
Working in a live public pedestrian underpass required an especially robust approach to public safety. The team prepared full RAMS, which were submitted and approved by BCP Council before works began. All operatives held current CISRS scaffolding qualifications.
Moreover, a safe pedestrian route was maintained and clearly signposted throughout the works. Therefore, the team designed the scaffold to prevent any risk of contact between the public and the working area. Regular inspections were carried out and documented throughout the project. Consequently, all works complied fully with CDM 2015 and local authority requirements.
Our Service
